Gladstone Community Center Information

Gladstone community centers are accessible for every neighborhood in which Gladstone Homes builds. The Gladstone community center for our neighborhoods in North Aurora – Moose Lake Estates, Windstone Place and Oak Creek – is the nationally recognized Fox Valley Park District. The Gladstone community center for Chatham Square in Plainfield is the Oswegoland Park District, while residents of Highland Woods enjoy not only an on-site Owner's Club and Aquatic Center for their master-planned community, but an additional Gladstone community center that is part of the acclaimed Elgin Parks and Recreation Department.

Fox Valley Park District

Residents of Gladstone Homes’ Moose Lake Estates, Windstone Place and Oak Creek are able to enjoy the Gladstone community center amenities provided by the nationally-acclaimed Fox Valley Park District. The Fox Valley Park District is the largest park district in Illinois outside of Chicago. Its mission statement is to “Enrich our community with fun, diverse and safe park and recreation experiences through environmentally and fiscally responsible actions.”

The District was awarded the most prestigious honor in the parks and recreation profession on October 14, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah, winning the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The Gold Medal Award honors communities throughout the United States that “demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, technological advances, agency effectiveness and efficiency, special populations, professional development and agency recognition. Each park district is judged on its ability to address the needs of those it serves through the collective energies of citizens, staff and governing officials.”

The District has also been recognized as an Illinois Association of Park Districts and Illinois Park and Recreation Association Distinguished Agency, the highest award an agency can receive from either association. The award is given to park districts that provide superior park and recreation opportunities to the communities they serve. Only 10% of Illinois Park Districts have achieved Distinguished Agency status.

Oswegoland Park District

The Oswegoland Park District is the Gladstone community center for Chatham Square. Amenities include the Civic Center Aquatic Park, which features a zero depth pool, flume waterslide, two drop slides, and sand play area. The Oswegoland Park District features over 810 acres of natural and developed parkland, including several miles of frontage along the Fox River. Fox Bend Golf Course, Oswego's public course, is a 6,890 yard, par 72 course featuring 34 well-positioned sand traps and water on 11 holes. The Golf Course has been host to the 1979, 1997 and 1999 Illinois Open, and voted a Five Star Course by Chicagoland Golf magazine.

Elgin Parks and Recreation Department

The Elgin Parks and Recreation Department is the Gladstone community center for Highland Woods. Amenities include two municipal golf courses, The Highlands of Elgin Golf Course and Wing Park Golf Course, the Elgin Sports Complex, featuring 10 lighted softball fields, 10 full-size soccer fields, “The Hill,” Chicagoland's premier BMX track, and two sand volleyball courts; and the Hemmens Cultural Center featuring “popular acts in an intimate setting.”

The Owners' Club and Aquatic Center is the exclusive, on-site Gladstone community center for residents of the master-planned community of Highland Woods. Countless amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, community club house, sports courts (tennis, basketball, and sand volleyball), an aquatic center with water slide, a 6-lane lap pool, and separate shallow splash pool.
