Woman finds home, career of her dreams

YORKVILLE – About a year ago, when Betsy Roos and her husband, Lou, discovered Gladstone Homes, she found both her dream home and her dream job.

The Roos family has lived in "quite a few homes in quite a few states," and when Lou's job brought them from Maryland to the Chicago area, they had one weekend to find a home.

"We purchased a nice house in Batavia and it was comfortable," said Betsy Roos, "but we knew it wasn't 'the house' and looked at tons of builders until we found the right one."

After six months of looking at what Roos describes as "bigger, more expensive versions of what we already had," she and Lou visited Gladstone's Eaglecrest at Grande Reserve sales center in Yorkville.

"We were dazzled with the floorplans and impressed by the quality construction," she said.

The Roos family chose Gladstone's Seastone plan at Eaglecrest.

The 3,281-square-foot Seastone features a private courtyard, a first-floor master suite and three spacious second-floor bedrooms, volume ceilings and a two-sided fireplace.

The family selected the Seastone's optional second-floor bonus room to give each of their four children their own room.

"Our home has 'wow factor,'" Roos said. "People slow down to look at it on the street and everyone who comes inside is amazed at how cool it is."

Impressed by the staff and the sales process and upon learning that Gladstone was hiring, Betsy, who had been working at Pottery Barn and had a long-time interest in house styles and decorating, applied for a sales position.

"Fortunately they hired me and it's a double bonus that I actually get to work in the community where I live," she said.

The bonus extends to potential homeowners with whom Betsy speaks from a homeowner's knowledge and experience.

"With four children - two in elementary, one who just completed middle school and another already in high school – I can share information that is important to a family about the pool, the parks and the PTO at the new, on-site Grande Reserve elementary school opening this fall," she said.

Gladstone's Eaglecrest at Grande Reserve sales center is located at 2811 Cryder Way in Yorkville. For information, call (630) 553-5588 or visit www.gladstonehome.com for information.
